Oh my goodness, where on earth did December go? It seems I blinked and it was over. I decided to take the festive period off blogging because I wanted to make the most of it all knowing it would fly past, and instead I thought I would share a few highlights on this week’s post.
Unfortunately I succumbed to the flu which has been making its way around the country, and I was out of action for about a week, just over the time where my diary was choc-a with Christmas parties with friends and work – not ideal at all. Luckily though, I was feeling almost 100% by Christmas Eve… just in time to show off my moves on the ice rink.
I started the month by watching a live screening in the cinema of The Nutcracker with the girls which was fantastic – I am so in awe of ballet dancers and am going to try and go to more of the ROH cinema showings this year. A week or so later Christo and I went back to Walwick Hall Hotel which is where we went for my birthday. We had another spa day and night away there. The weather was beautiful, being that gorgeous mix of sunny but frosty. The Christmas decorations there were seriously impressive as well; it all felt so festive and it was nice to just relax knowing that the next few weeks were going to be busy. I know I said this in my other post about the hotel, but it really is a beautiful place to stay and the staff there are all so lovely. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Northumberland I would really recommend it.
Christmas and New Year were spent back in Sussex as we had both managed to get 10 days off – which was lovely and very much needed. We were busy every day seeing family and old friends, which was so much fun. It was really nice to catch up with what everyone was doing. Mum and Dad’s Christmas tree was as impressive as always (pics below), and Christmas lunch was cooked by me and my brother Charlie. We thought it was about time there was a role reversal, so our parents got to relax and we cooked up a storm in the kitchen – I’m pleased to report the meal was a triumph! Of course it goes without saying plenty of Christmas leftovers, cheese and wine were consumed during the course of the time at home and I now find myself in week 2 of dry January (so far so good), and healthy eating (not such a success).
Anyway included are a few of my favourite snaps from the festive period which I just love, they all have such happy memories with them. I am already excited for Christmas 2018, but in the meantime though get ready for a new property related post next Thursday!
